Beyond Roleplay: Using Dungeons & Dragons to Level Up Learning

About This Webinar

Whether or not you’re familiar with Dungeons & Dragons as a game, you may not know its potential as a unique and dynamic classroom tool. Over the years, teachers have shared countless stories about how D&D has helped their students enhance skills in reading, deductive reasoning, planning, teamwork, creativity, STEM, socio-emotional learning, and more. This collaborative roleplaying game is credited in particular with helping students create meaningful and memorable engagement.

But you don’t need to play D&D or even know how to play to bring its concepts into the classroom. Curriculum specialist Young Minds Inspired (YMI) and game maker Wizards of the Coast have teamed up to create a series of adaptable, pre-made lesson plans inspired by the rich world and gameplay of D&D. This 2024 Share My Lesson Virtual Conference session will present an educator’s introduction to D&D, review the many available free learning resources, and show ways the game can be used to elevate learning and fun.
