About This Webinar

This 2023 Share My Lesson Virtual Conference session will address the widespread impact of gun violence in schools and communities and the practical ways we can care for our students (and ourselves!) in positive, effective ways. From the ever-lasting loop of shootings in the news and non-trauma-informed drills school staff and students endure, to the horrors of being directly impacted by gun violence, the weight of this epidemic on the shoulders of all Americans is heavy and relentless. We’ll share personal experiences and youth voices as to what has been helpful and harmful in the aftermath of trauma.

Wow!
This is such important work being done by the presenters and others, but I hate that this is the reality for so many students, educators and parents.

Caring and Sharing
I believe I can use the resources to support students' writing and elevate their voices. I especially think it's important for students to feel like they are listened to and that they matter. Providing a safe space in the classroom and in our schools for students to have authentic conversations and other positive, supportive opportunities to share and just "be" will be important considerations before and after a traumatic experience with violence of any sorts.
