Climate Change: What Your Students Want to Know AND What They Can Do About It

Charlie Hopkins is the Director of Teaching and Learning at the Council on Foreign Relations where he works with instructors in both high school and higher education who are using the Council’s educational resources. Charlie began his career teaching history and social studies, both in the United States and abroad.

Margaret is the COO and co-founder of SubjectToClimate. She was a high school teacher, primarily in economics and business, for several years before she pursued an M.Ed. in international education policy at Harvard Graduate School of Education. Working with Professor Fernando Reimers, she supported and edited several books regarding education reform and climate change education. She received her teaching certification at Princeton University. Outside of work, Margaret is an avid ultramarathon runner and triathlete.

As a High School Spanish teacher and student newspaper advisor, Liz has taught for over 20 years and has served as World Languages Department Chair and K-6 summer camp activities leader. She has worked in Ohio, Maine, New Jersey, Maryland, and Chile

Kelly Carmichael Booz oversees the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) PreK-12 online resources serving 2.1 million educators on the AFT's ShareMyLesson.com, the AFT's E-Learning professional development platform, and the production and dissemination of PreK-12 publication for the AFT's 1.7 million members. Kelly was appointed by Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe to serve on the Virginia Standards of Learning Innovation Committee to evaluate the Virginia accountability and assessment systems. Kelly was elected to the Alexandria City School Board in 2012 and served on the Board from 2013-2015. For her work in the community, she was named Alexandria, Virginia's Chamber of Commerce 40 under 40 in 2017.

Working in various civic education capacities, Kelly serves on the Board of Directors for Virginia Civics, which promotes constitutional literacy, critical thinking, and civic engagement, empowering the next generation of leaders in Virginia. Previously, Kelly served as Director of Civic Education at James Madison’s Montpelier and as Manager of Teacher Programs at Alexandria’s Close Up Foundation.

Kelly has a M.Ed. from the University of Virginia a B.A. from Carleton College.
