I-ACT Thought Partner Series: Episode 1

About This Webinar

Calling all allies, equity warriors, and change-makers! You won’t want to miss this opportunity to listen in on a series of three intimate conversations between members of the AFT Identity Affirming Classroom Team (I-ACT) and leading authors and researchers Dr. Becki Cohn-Vargas and Dr. Debbie Zacarian about their new book, Identity Safe Spaces at Home and School: Partnering to Overcome Inequity.

Each episode features a guest contributor whose lived experiences are chronicled in the book. You’ll hear stories of how they triumphed over bullying, marginalization, and oppression and learn about real solutions for mitigating the effects of stereotype threat, fostering positive identity development, and creating strong, culturally responsive home-school partnerships.

This series is for everyone, not just schools and families but community-based organizations, policymakers, and anyone who wants to shape a new vision for identity safety, where all are welcome, included, and empowered! A handy listening guide to facilitate independent and group reflection and ways to extend conversation in community with others will be provided to enhance your listening experience.
