Description
Media: Explore this immersive 360° video to learn how shark tagging allows scientists to track shark migrations and better protect these endangered species.

Activity description: Students research the pros and cons of shark tagging and list arguments for each side. Then, choose between creating a poster to capture both sets of arguments, or hosting a (virtual) debate on the topic. A letter-sized poster template is provided.

1. Tracking sharks: tracking method comparison activity. Scenario: Two scientists need help choosing a shark tagging strategy. Can your child/student help the scientists make an informed decision?2. Examining shark tracking data activity: Students learn a few facts about blacktip sharks and hammerhead sharks and then use Google Earth and a real-life shark tracking data set to compare the movement of two sharks.
