Is there plastic in my waterways? An investigative activity

About This Lesson

Activity: Plastic in my watershed

  • Description | 1 hour
  • Media: We all live in a watershed, no matter how far we are from a body of water! Discover different sources of plastic pollution in a watershed, and learn why plastic pollution matters. Then, take up a challenge and match different plastic pollutants to their potential sources.
  • Activity: Investigation - Students use their mapping skills to find their watershed on a map. After taking a screenshot, they search for sources of plastic and mark them on their map with symbols. At the end of the activity, students critically reflect on how plastic enters their local waterways.
