Think Outside the Bus: School Buses in the Circular Economy

About This Lesson

In Think Outside the Bus: School Buses in the Circular Economy, students will learn about electric school buses and help us answer an important question: as more school districts across the United States switch to clean, electric school buses, what should they do with their retiring diesel buses? Can they be recycled? Repurposed into something new? This is a real question that school districts, policymakers and others are facing, and we are eager to hear students’ ideas. Materials include:

  1. Think Outside the Bus Educator Guide (see attached): This guide provides an overview of the lesson materials, including a lesson plan, instructions for uploading photos of student work to galleries on LEGO.com, and additional resources.
  2. Think Outside the Bus Lesson (see attached): This file is the presentation deck for the lesson. It contains an overview of the lesson, followed by slides to share with students, videos, polls and more.
  3. Think Outside the Bus Speaker Notes (see attached): These are the printable speaker’s notes for the lesson. Content in italics is a suggested speaking script, and standard text are notes for the educator.
